CIMC SOE successfully launched second 24,000m³ LEG carrier
2026-01-08

On January 8, Nantong CIMC Sinopacific Offshore & Engineering Co., Ltd. (hereinafter "CIMC SOE") successfully launched the second 24,000-cubic-meter LEG carrier (Hull No.: S1108) built for UK's Petredec. This vessel also marks the first launch completed by CIMC SOE in 2026, signaling a steady and promising start to the new year's production tasks.

The milestone was witnessed by Hemraj Dhurve, Site Manager of the shipowner's supervision company Steel Ships, and the supervision team; representatives from Bureau Veritas (BV); Chen Bin, Deputy General Manager of CIMC SOE's Shipbuilding Business Division; Liu Changting, Head of the Block Erection Department; Yan Kai, Deputy Director of the Shipbuilding Project Management Department; and members of the company's project team.

This 24,000m³ LEG carrier was independently researched, developed, and designed by CIMC SOE, representing the technological forefront of the new generation of ethylene carriers. Through optimized hull lines and layout design, the vessel achieves a design speed of up to 16 knots while enhancing effective cargo capacity, successfully balancing operational efficiency and transport capability. Regarding the power system, the vessel is equipped with a WinGD 5X52-S2.0-iSCR main engine and innovatively integrates advanced environmental equipment such as a scrubber and a shaft generator. This configuration significantly reduces pollutant emissions while effectively lowering greenhouse gas emissions and fuel consumption, fully aligning with the global shipping industry's trend towards green and low-carbon development.

The successful launch of the S1108 is a result of the close collaboration and efficient coordination between CIMC SOE's project team, the shipowner, and the classification society. It once again verifies the company's technical strength and delivery capability in the small and medium-sized liquefied gas carrier segment. As a leading global manufacturer of small and medium-sized liquefied gas carriers, CIMC SOE will continue to focus on high-tech, high-value-added vessel types, committed to building safe, efficient, and green maritime transport equipment.

Moving forward, the company will dedicate all efforts to advancing the subsequent construction work, ensuring the vessel's timely and high-quality delivery to create greater value for the client. This also lays a solid foundation for achieving the full-year production and operational targets of 2026.
