On October 17, the construction commencement ceremony for a 20,000-cubic-meter LNG carrier and bunkering vessel (Hull No.: S1124), built by Nantong CIMC Sinopacific Offshore & Engineering Co., Ltd. (hereinafter "CIMC SOE") for Avenir LNG Limited (hereinafter "Avenir LNG"), was held at the west yard. This milestone marks the steady progress of the series project and the continued deepening of cooperation between the two parties.

Witnessing the event were Avenir LNG's Project Manager Ber, Site Manager Anders, guests from the charterer, as well as CIMC SOE leaders including Chen Bin, Deputy General Manager of the Shipbuilding Business Division, and members of the project team.

The 20,000-cubic-meter LNG bunker and carrier vessel, as one of the primary vessel types in the global LNG bunker and carrier fleet, has an overall length of 160 meters, a beam of 25 meters, and a design speed of 15.5 knots. It integrates advanced environmental technologies and design concepts. The vessel is not only equipped with a WINGD dual-fuel main engine featuring iCER technology but is also prepared for the potential future installation of a high-voltage shore power system. These features significantly reduce pollution and greenhouse gas emissions throughout the vessel's lifecycle, effectively addressing the increasingly stringent environmental demands of the global shipping industry.
Following the commencement of the hull S1123 in July this year, the successful start of this sister vessel not only demonstrates CIMC SOE's construction capabilities in the core segment of small and medium-sized liquefied gas carriers but also further solidifies its cooperative relationship with international clients in the field of clean energy equipment. The company will continue to optimize processes, strictly control quality and safety, and ensure the timely and high-quality delivery of this project, thereby adding new support to Avenir LNG's global clean energy supply chain and jointly promoting the green and low-carbon transition of the shipping industry!
