Enhancing the "Four Capabilities" to build a strong "Firewall" for enterprise production — CIMC SOE conducted specialized fire safety skills training
2025-09-28

To thoroughly implement the development of the "Four Capabilities" in fire safety and effectively enhance the company's emergency response level in dealing with sudden fire incidents, Nantong CIMC Sinopacific Offshore & Engineering Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as "CIMC SOE") invited professional instructors from the Offshore Engineering Park Fire Brigade on September 25 to conduct a substantial and practical specialized fire safety skills training for thirty members of the west yard safety alliance (including part-time fire team members).

Given the increasing production tasks in the west yard and the growing number of vessels under construction, higher demands have been placed on ship fire safety management. This training was specifically organized to closely focus on the four core capabilities: "the ability to inspect and eliminate fire hazards, the ability to extinguish initial fires, the ability to organize personnel evacuation and escape, and the ability to conduct fire safety education and training." The aim is to forge the team into on-site fire safety experts who "understand prevention, can respond to emergencies, and are skilled in operations."

First, the firefighting officers systematically outlined the operational procedures and theoretical knowledge of core firefighting skills. During the theoretical session, the instructors emphasized the principles, applicable scenarios, and operational precautions of various firefighting equipment, tailored to the fire risk characteristics of the shipbuilding industry, laying a solid theoretical foundation for the subsequent practical exercises.

Next, the instructors demonstrated standardized procedures for key tasks, including the quick donning of fireproof suits and air respirators, the accurate throwing and connecting of fire hoses, and the rapid connection of fire hydrants and water distributors.

After grasping the theoretical key points and observing the standardized demonstrations, the thirty trainees were divided into two groups, taking turns to engage in hands-on practical training.

Finally, Captain Xu, the head of the fire brigade, summarized and provided on-site comments on the training. He fully affirmed the trainees' learning attitude and training results, while emphasizing that the development of the "Four Capabilities" in fire safety is the foundation of fire safety. He stressed that the company should deeply integrate the development of these capabilities into the safety management system, and personnel at all levels (especially safety officers and part-time fire team members) should clearly understand their responsibilities and become grassroots practitioners and promoters of the "Four Capabilities."

This training not only improved the participants' firefighting skills but also strengthened their fire safety awareness. Moving forward, the company will use this specialized fire safety training as a starting point to further solidify the foundation of fire safety, continuously advance the development of the "Four Capabilities" in fire safety, and safeguard the steady development of the enterprise!
