CIMC SOE successfully launched the second 1450TEU dual-fuel container vessel
2025-06-27

On June 26th, the second 1450TEU dual-fuel container vessel built by Nantong CIMC Sinopacific Offshore & Engineering Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as “CIMC SOE”) was smoothly launched from the No. 2 slipway in the West Yard. The ceremony was witnessed by shipowner representative Long Yefei, DNV site surveyor Jin Ma, CIMC SOE Deputy General Manager Zhou Lubing, Shipbuilding Division Deputy General Managers Shen Lintao and Chen Bin, and members of the project team.

The vessel has an overall length of 169.95 meters, a beam of 27.6 meters, a design draft of 9 meters, and a service speed of 18.5 knots. It utilizes an LNG dual-fuel propulsion system, powered by a MAN high-pressure LNG dual-fuel main engine. The LNG Fuel Gas Supply System (FGSS), independently designed by CIMC SOE, ensures efficient and stable fuel supply. Additionally, the innovative design of horizontal triple C-type fuel tanks optimally saves hold space and enhances cargo loading efficiency.

The significant hull lines of this series presented a major challenge for the airbag launching process. During the launch of the first vessel, the project team collaborated closely with the design institute, airbag supplier, and tugboat operators. Through multiple rounds of in-depth discussions and solution optimization, they successfully overcame this technical hurdle. The successful launch of this second vessel builds directly upon that valuable experience and proven technical solution, resulting in a smoother and more efficient process. This demonstrates the project team's increasingly mature mastery of complex construction techniques.

With the vessel now safely afloat, the project will transition into subsequent phases including quayside outfitting and system commissioning. Facing intricate and demanding engineering milestones, the project team will adhere to the principles of scientific organization and meticulous construction. By concentrating superior resources, they will fully ensure the efficient and orderly advancement of all follow-up construction and testing tasks. This commitment aims to guarantee the on-time, high-quality delivery of this dual-fuel container vessel, representing the development trend of green shipping.
