Recently, Nantong CIMC Sinopacific Offshore & Engineering Co., Ltd. ("CIMC SOE") secured a contract with a European shipowner for a 20,000m³ LNG bunkering and transport vessel, marking the fifth order for this vessel type. The repeated selection of this design underscores European clients’ recognition of CIMC SOE’s LNG bunkering vessel design and construction capabilities, as well as their trust in the company’s expertise.

The newly contracted vessel measures 160 meters in length and 25 meters in beam, with a design speed of 15.5 knots. Equipped with a WinGD dual-fuel main engine featuring intelligent Control by Exhaust Recycling (iCER) technology and an optional high-voltage shore power system, it significantly reduces lifecycle pollutant and greenhouse gas emissions, addressing the global shipping industry’s increasingly stringent environmental requirements. The vessel is scheduled for delivery in April 2027.

Unlike traditional LNG bunkering vessels, this advanced design integrates storage, transportation, and ship-to-ship (STS) bunkering capabilities, enabling flexible port fueling and offshore floating storage operations. CIMC SOE’s R&D team further optimized the cargo containment system, achieving a lower boil-off rate (BOR) compared to similar-sized vessels in the market, thereby reducing operational costs while enhancing both economic and environmental benefits.

With its exceptional design capabilities, efficient construction standards, and customer-centric services, CIMC SOE has earned widespread acclaim from domestic and international clients. This fifth order solidifies the company’s leadership in the global small-to-medium LNG carrier and bunkering vessel market. As demand for green fuels continues to rise in the maritime sector, CIMC SOE will drive innovation in clean energy vessel technologies—including LNG, methanol, and liquid ammonia—accelerating the industry’s transition to a zero-carbon future.
