Nantong CIMC Sinopacific Offshore & Engineering Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as "CIMC SOE") has recently successfully reached two critical shipbuilding milestones: the commencement of construction and the keel laying, marking significant progress in project advancement and technical implementation.
On December 4th, the commencement ceremony for the SPP40 Platform Supply Vessel (hull number S1096) was held smoothly in the West Area Hull Workshop of CIMC SOE. The event was attended by representatives from SPEC, the shipowner, supervisory company, the resident manager of BV Classification Society, Deputy General Manager of the Shipbuilding Division at CIMC SOE, Mr. Chen Bin, and members of the project team.
The multi-functional platform supply vessel under construction measures 81.75 meters in length, 17.40 meters in breadth, 7.8 meters in depth, with a design draft of 6.3 meters and a deadweight capacity of 4,000 tons, classed by BV Classification Society. It is equipped with two tunnel thrusters and two azimuth thrusters, featuring an oil-electric hybrid propulsion system that not only enhances operational flexibility but also significantly reduces fuel consumption and emissions. The vessel integrates several advanced technologies and functions, including an unmanned engine room, zero emissions for up to 7 days, secondary dynamic positioning systems, Class 1 external firefighting capabilities, oil spill recovery operations, and vibration and noise comfort level Grade 3 classification symbols. With a deck cargo area of 800 square meters, it is designed for transporting various materials such as methanol, fresh water, fuel, cement, mud, drilling water, and deck cargo, greatly enhancing its multi-functionality and operational efficiency.
One month prior, the sister vessel SPP40 Platform Supply Vessel (hull number S1095) had already commenced construction, making the start of S1096 a new milestone. Moving forward, CIMC SOE will strengthen its mission and responsibility, focus on quality and efficiency, and wholeheartedly promote the progress of all project-related work to ensure timely and high-quality delivery of the SPP40 vessels, providing robust support for customer business development.
On December 6th, the keel laying ceremony for the third 12,500 DWT clean energy river-sea direct bulk carrier (S1089), built for Changhang Freight Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as "Changhang Freight"), was held on No. 2 slipway in the West Area. Chief Representative Yao Wenhua of Changhang Freight, representative Wang Gang from CCS Classification Society, resident shipowner representatives, and project team members were present to witness this moment.
This vessel represents the third of its series and exemplifies the latest generation of domestic clean energy river-sea direct bulk carriers. It showcases the firm commitment and outstanding practice results of both CIMC SOE and Changhang Freight towards green development. Its advanced environmental protection technology and clean energy propulsion system aim to reduce carbon emissions and environmental pollution, promoting more sustainable development in the shipping industry.
Going forward, the project team will deepen cooperation with all participating entities, ensuring efficient resource integration, continuous communication with the shipowner and surveyors, strengthened quality control throughout the construction process, and accelerated production progress to guarantee that the S1089 vessel is launched according to the scheduled milestones.
With the successful realization of these two key milestones, the company will continue to uphold a high sense of responsibility and mission, fully committed to advancing all project-related work. Not only does CIMC SOE dedicate itself to building each vessel into high-quality modern marine engineering equipment, but it also actively responds to the future trends of green shipping, striving to make greater contributions in environmental protection and technological innovation.
