World's First! CIMC SOE completed and delivered stacked bio-lobe LNG fuel tanks
2024-09-13

Recently, Nantong CIMC Sinopacific Offshore & Engineering Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as "CIMC SOE") successfully loaded and dispatched the first and second sets (T154/155) of the world's first 7,500 cubic meter stacked bio-lobe LNG fuel tanks built for Zhoushan Changhong International Shipyard Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as "Changhong"). These fuel tanks will be installed on 11,500 TEU container vessels.

Loading and dispatch of T154

Considering the narrow and tall space characteristics of the fuel tank compartments on container vessels, the project adopted a stacked design for the bio-lobe LNG fuel tanks. Compared to traditional horizontally laid bio-lobe tanks, this design maximizes the use of available space, improving space utilization by at least 40%, reducing the box damage rate for shipowners by over 30%, and significantly enhancing the overall operational economy for the vessel owners.

To ensure the smooth progress of this world-first stacked bio-lobe LNG fuel tank project, the project team carried out specialized planning in advance and conducted predictive analysis of potential issues during the process. During subsequent construction, the project team and relevant departments meticulously planned and strictly implemented production schedules, ultimately delivering the project on time, with quality assurance, and safely.

Loading and dispatch of T155

The successful delivery of this project marks a new advancement for CIMC SOE in the field of IMO C-type fuel tanks. It further enriches the company's experience in areas such as drawing design, production construction, pressure testing, tool manufacturing, and loading and dispatching, demonstrating the company's core philosophy of "daring to challenge, actively innovating, and being committed to serving customers" in the liquid tank manufacturing sector.

In the future, CIMC SOE will continuously provide customers with higher technological level and quality tank products. By relying on independent research and development, the company aims to achieve equipment technology innovations and actively promote innovations in the global low-carbon clean energy equipment industry.
