On September 10th, a steel-cutting ceremony was held at the hull workshop in the West Yard for the second of two 40,000 cubic meter LPG/Liquid Ammonia carriers (S1084) being constructed by Nantong CIMC Sinopacific Offshore & Engineering Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as "CIMC SOE") for Avance Gas. The event was attended by Yavuz Halac, the shipowner's manager stationed at the factory, along with the owner’s team, the LR representative stationed at the factory Zhao Wu, and the surveyor’s team.

Recalling back to May of this year, the first vessel (S1083) of the 40,000 cubic meter LPG/Liquid Ammonia carrier series began construction smoothly. Currently, the construction of the cargo tanks and hull is progressing steadily, with plans to launch the vessel into dry dock in early November, marking a new phase in the MGC ship construction for the company.

According to information available, these newly built carriers incorporate the latest design concepts and technology, making them part of a new generation of MGC vessels. Equipped with MAN's environmentally friendly dual-fuel main engines, these vessels not only achieve a design speed of up to 16 knots but also, through the use of high-pressure LPG dual-fuel engines, significantly reduce pollutants and greenhouse gas emissions during operation, complying with the environmental requirements set by the International Maritime Organization (IMO). In terms of cargo capacity, these ships feature three IMO Type A cargo tanks, which optimize cargo space utilization efficiency and enhance overall economic performance. More importantly, these tanks can flexibly load a variety of liquefied gas cargoes, including LPG, liquid ammonia, and Vinyl Chloride Monomer (VCM), making the vessels adaptable to diverse transportation needs and enhancing their competitiveness and flexibility in the market.

The commencement of construction on the second MGC vessel is not only a significant demonstration of the cooperative relationship between the two companies but also lays a solid foundation for future collaboration. As the project advances, CIMC SOE will continue to uphold high standards of quality control and people-oriented safety management principles to ensure the construction tasks are completed on time and to the required quality, providing global customers with more efficient and environmentally friendly transportation services.
