Recently, Nantong CIMC Sinopacific Offshore ＆ Engineering Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as "CIMC SOE") successfully shipped the second of six large 4,650 cubic meter vertical LNG ship fuel tanks built for German company AC-INOX GmbH (hereinafter referred to as "AC-INOX"). Subsequently, this fuel tank will be installed on a 3,500 TEU container vessel.
During the construction process, the project team, building upon the experience gained from the first tank, refined and optimized aspects such as design drawings, structural manufacturing, piping and valve installation, safety management, and lifting and loading onto the ship for the second tank. For instance, they designed humanized platforms at the liquid tank saddle binding positions, facilitating and ensuring safety for workers cutting and binding before the shipyard's lifting operation. They also achieved pre-installation of valves before the liquid tank hydrostatic test, conducting pressure testing simultaneously with the tank's internal piping system, which effectively shortened the piping and valve installation period and reduced testing costs. Improvements were made to the arrangement of lifting wires for the liquid tank, increasing its lifting height to clear other under-construction tanks and the pier bridge in the 900T shipping area, minimizing the need to move obstacles.
It is noted that the fuel tank shipment coincided with the summer heatwave, with daily temperatures reaching as high as 36℃, and the company was in the midst of a production peak. With numerous tanks standing in the production area and the dock congested with vessels under construction, the project team meticulously planned the tank transportation, lifting, and barge berthing timing to efficiently and safely complete the tank loading and shipment.
